My New Project

So I have several things to blog about.... but before I get to those things I need to ask for some advice. I am finally starting one of the many projects that I want to do for my new home - fixing up the kitchen table and chairs. We have a perfectly good table - I just don't like the look of it, and I found some awesome chairs on craigslist... so now I want to paint them and re-upholster the chairs.

I am starting with the chairs because they need some lovin
I love the shape of these chairs and they are pretty sturdy, but definitely have been beat up a bit.

I am thinking about painting both the chairs and the table white...any advice on type of paint to use? And process of painting furniture altogether? I have never done anything like this before so any advice/tips/opinions will be much appreciated!

Love those chairs! I have a couple of products I LOVE for furniture. I'll give you some details when I see you tomorrow. I can't wait to see them all fixed up!

younghouselove.com has a whole section on how-to home projects. But be careful, their website is addicting!

You'll need to sand them down to get the existing paint off. I highly highly highly recommend finding an electric sander of some sort. Hand sanding is extremely time consuming and boring.

We did this to our rocking chair and used spray paint on it. Depending on what you want it to look like you may or may not want to finish it. Spraying a laqueur/enamel on it will make it smoother and last longer, it will also make it more shiny.

Don't know if this tutorial is on this site, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is. This is a couple that is constantly decorating, updating, and fixer up-ing everything in their home. From kitchen to nurserys to landscape with awesome instructions and photos. I'm positive you could find inspiration from them here. Good luck!
