At the end of July we had the pleasure of spending a week on the beach in California with my family. To say it was amazing would be an understatement.
My mom found a house literally on the beach to rent with pretty short notice.
This was our view from the upstairs:
View from downstairs:
It was pretty fun to look out the window and see the beautiful ocean spread out before us.
It was also fun to take sweet silhouette shots like this one:
Jake is too cool.
Our first day there was Sunday, so it was a pretty low-key day.
We went to church
(which apparently wore Afton out)
and we went for walks on the grass...
...and the beach
We, of course, did some wave chasing with Grampy.
Remember our last beach trip? We were hoping that Afton would get over her hatred of the sand, but she didn't. She was only happy when she stayed on her sand-less towel, or her little beach chair.
This little girl LOVED the sand. So much that she tried to eat it a couple times!
It's too bad that her smiles weren't able to prove to Afton that sand is fun.
Despite Afton's general dislike of the beach, we still had a GREAT time!
We did a lot of relaxing on the beach:
We played in the sand (horseshoes, hermit crabs, wiffle ball, sand castles, oh my!)
We played in the waves:
We went to the zoo!
Afton's probably could have spent all day in the petting zoo.
She loved those goats!
We also had a delicious dinner at Seaport Village and had fun looking at the shops.
Whilst at Seaport Village Dad decided he wanted a picture with these birds:
Jake's hair must be pretty tasty...
Afton was not too sure about petting the birds... can you blame her?
We also played with cousins ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
That was definitely Afton's favorite part of the trip.
Speaking of cousins...
there are currently 5 Morris cousins, soon to be six!
Here are the "walking" cousins:
Ashton, Afton, and Hallie
Little Cutie Pie here is still in the crawling stage:
And the adorable Azy is still immobile.
But she will be crawling before you know it!
And here are some pictures of the rest of the family:
Photo bomb win for Jake!
My wonderful parents, who made this trip possible.
Grandma was in heaven playing with her grandkids all week.
Afton taking a little morning jog on the beach.
Swinging at the park!
Our little family, by our huge sand castle that we built.
Well, that Brad and I built.
And if you were able to make it through this entire blog post, you get rewarded with this little gem, courtesy of Ashton:
