And.... We're Back! - Adventures #1

Well at least I am...back in TEXAS that is. For any who may not know, I was born in Texas ( I only lived here three weeks, but that doesn't matter), and I have always wanted to go "back" to see what Texas is like. Thanks to Brad's internship I have been given that opportunity, and so far, I like it. Granted I have only been in Texas a week... but Brad and I have managed to do A LOT in that one little week.

Monday, June 1st
We stuffed up our little corolla and traveled 13 hours down to El Paso Texas. We stayed the night in El Paso and ate at Famous Dave's Barbecue... YUM!

The 13 hour drive wasn't all that bad because Brad's good friend let us borrow Ender's Game - the audio book version. This is one of Brad's favorite books, I have never read it but it was good, really interesting too. I wasn't sure about the audio book idea... didn't think it would keep my attention, but I was VERY wrong. We basically listened to this book straight through!

Tuesday, June 2nd
Drove 7 more hours to San Antonio, TX and saw TONS of these windmills on the way. I guess Texas is going green! We got to San Antonio in time to have dinner with one of Brad's co-workers and his family, the Williams. It was nice to eat something other than burgers and tacos. After dinner we unpacked the car, made a quick trip to Wal-Mart, then went to bed! (In case you are wondering, we are sleeping on an air mattress for the next two months.... so far so good!)

Wednesday, June 3rd
Instead of taking time to get settled into our apartment, Brad and I decided it would be more fun to go to Six Flags! I found 2 for 1 tickets online, so we only payed $50 instead of $100! can't beat that. Despite being surrounded by high school seniors and 8th graders who were undoubtedly skipping their last day of school... Brad and I had a great time riding on all the roller coasters and getting soaked. I also schooled Bradley in the Scooby Doo ghost hunt ride! Finally a shooting ride I can win!

Thursday, June 4th

Brad taught me about Manwiches. I don't know how he bites those things... I just prefer my toasted PB&J with extra Peanut Butter. We also officially moved in.... not that we had much to unpack. But I do love the walk in closet they have here. Someday... when I have a house... I want one.

Friday, June 5th
Today we decided to see some of the big tourist attractions in San Antonio
The ALAMO! It was pretty cool to walk around this place and learn about what happened here. I never realized that a massacre basically happened here. I guess I missed that in my history classes. The whole fort is kind of big, but this is the most well known part... the church/cathedral.

Next we did the River Walk! This place gets talked up WAY too much. Yes, parts of it are pretty, and yes, it is fun.... but I am glad my mother warned me not too expect the best experience of my life! I will actually do a separate post on this particular part of our adventures... this blurb is already too long!
We also went to El Mercado... the largest Mexican market outside of Mexico (at least someone told me it is). It was fun to walk around and see all the stuff... clothes, jewelry, luchador masks and toy wrestling rings, decorations, all sorts of stuff. They also have Mexican vanilla there! i plan to get myself a big bottle before we leave here.
AND we also got a couch for $20... and the guy we bought it from was kind enough to deliver it with his truck! so we paid him 30 dollars instead for the gas.

Saturday, June 6th
Saturday was a more chill day, but we did go see UP! It was a GREAT movie. I loved it. I went in expecting a great movie, and that is what I got... which is usually the case with Pixar. In fact, the only Pixar movie that I don't really care to watch is a Bug's Life. Anywho... go see the movie!

Sunday, June 7th
CHURCH! what else would we do? I felt very welcomed in our ward, especially in relief society!

Monday June 8th
We have internet in our apartment now! No more hiking down to the office to use their internet!

Sorry this post is so long... but I just wanted to get it ALL out. Now I am caught up and my posts will be much shorter. Promise!
