The Tale of the Monster Spider

So earlier this week while Brad was out of town and I was left home alone to unpack, I was taken off-guard by this beastly beast

I am getting the heeby-jeebys just looking at this picture. askdfja;sldfkja
Now I would just like to say that I can handle my fair share of creepy crawlers. I am not usually one to freak out and scream and run for the hills, but this was a little too much for me. I was in my room for 5 minutes trying to decide how to handle this situation. After that 5 minutes I emerged from the room with an empty trash can to cover the beast and a heavy book to weigh it down... but just then this creeper slipped  into our little linen closet and I could not see him..... ANYWHERE.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point I called Brad and the next hour was spent with Brad giving me a pep talk so that I would stop crying and have the courage to take care of this spider on my own. (Yes I was near tears, home alone, at night, in a new house, with a big spider.) At one point he said "tonight is the night you become a woman. Women take care of spiders on their own." And of course I informed him that women marry husbands to take care of spiders for them. Anywho, during this discussion I got innovative and took lots of pictures like this
because there was no way I was going into that closet with that monster spider! And of course, the spider was not along the door, and then I noticed the hats on the floor. So I got out my broom (again, to keep plenty of distance between me and the spider) and yes, it was under my BYU hat. So I quickly trapped the spider under a trash can until Brad informed me that the spider might be able to squeeze out from under it.... which led me to savagely beat the poor thing with my broom until it was dead.
So an hour later.... I reigned victorious.... sort of. I didn't sleep well that night for fear of being attacked by other ginormous arachnids. And I still feel a little guilty for the inhumane way in which I killed the spider. And yes, I realize this is a long, ridiculous post about me freaking out over a spider.... but this is my blog. So deal.

THE END
