I think it's funny that a movie had to title their "exit music." I just finished watching Gone With the Wind for the first time. I know, I know, how have I never seen this movie before?! Answer: I just haven't! Until now. Brad was out of town for a few days so I figured there would never be a better time.
So my review of the movie? While I respect the importance of this movie in film history, and the 10 Academy Awards, it's not my favorite. The acting was great. But Scarlett O'Hara is one of the most ridiculous characters ever. A ridiculous, manipulative, spoiled brat. The whole movie she throws herself at Ashley, and the only reason she wants him is because she couldn't have him. But maybe that was the point of the movie.... people getting over their blindness to reality.....maybe?
I did enjoy seeing the other point of view to the Civil War. I don't think I ever really felt bad for the people in the South. They don't really talk about the good people whose lives were destroyed in history class... they just focus on the evil slave owners. Slavery had to come to an end... it's just sad that mass destruction was the means.
Anywho, any other thoughts on the movie? I am genuinely interested.

I saw this a few nights ago. I hate Scarlett! She is awful!
agreed agreed.
Mammy is the ONLY wise person in the movie!
I need to see it again. I watched it when I was about 12 and I don't think I really appreciated it. My grandma LOVES the book and the movie. She could discuss it for hours if you let her :)
I couldn't stand the movie. Scarlett drove me nuts.
Then a friend convinced me to read the book. It took forever, but I finished it. AND I LIKED IT.
The book gives you more insight to Scarlett's mind and the reasons she does things. I still don't like the things she does, but at least I understood where she was coming from.
So I watched the movie again after reading the book. Still got really annoyed :)
That's crazy!!!!! Mom, Dad, and I just watched that last night! Great minds think alike ;)
