Family Photos!

So our friend Mandy of Mandy's Studio came over a few days after Ruby was born and took these beautiful photos for us. Here are a few of my favorites:

We tried to get Afton to do some sweet poses with Ruby.
This was the only one she would do.

A more glamorous view of me adjusting to a mother of 2.
A more realistic picture would have all of us in PJ's, no bows, and at least one child fussing. :)

I was not aware this photo was being taken, but I am so glad it was!

Probably the best family shot. Afton was being a stinker!

I love this stunning photo of Afton.

Classic Afton face. She is such a stinker.

Happy Family!

Boo Meets Roo

Afton came to meet Ruby the morning after she was born.
She was a little confused seeing me in the hospital bed, so first we went for a little walk.
Afton LOVES pushing strollers and such.

Getting up on the bed to meet baby sister! She liked pointing out all of baby's body parts:
Toes, head, nose, eyes, hands- and she was so good at being very soft.

Attempts at a family picture, Afton was more interested in the buttons on the bed at this point.

Giving Ruby kisses "bye bye"

We only had to stay in the hospital for 24 hours, so the day after Ruby was born, we were home!

Afton trying to touch Ruby's nose.

This happened about a week later-
Afton reached up when Brad was holding Ruby and said "Afty's turn!"

We get a lot of people asking us how Afton is adjusting. She has been doing pretty good considering she gets half the attention that she used to. She likes baby Ruby. Likes to give her "baby bink" and lets me know when "baby cries" "sad." It's pretty cute. She is a little more whiny about EVERYTHING, but if she isn't hitting or chucking things at baby then a little whining is ok with me :)

Welcome Ruby!

As I have mentioned before, Ruby came about a week after I thought she would come. Afton was early, so I figured Ruby would come around her due date for sure. In fact, at my 40 week check-up (a Tuesday) my midwife said she would be surprised if Ruby didn't arrive in the next day or two... surprise!

Well Halloween came and went, Brad had even stayed home from work, and we were running out of ways to keep my mom busy. Sunday I thought my water broke, so we went into the hospital, but unfortunately no breakage. At this point I was emotionally done waiting for Ruby to come, so we scheduled induction for Tuesday morning.

As luck would have it, Tuesday morning (November 5th) around 4:00 AM I started having contractions! So no induction! Unfortunately, after a few hours they completely stopped. We went into the hospital at 9:00 AM and I was dilated to a 6, but still no more contractions. (I guess Ruby was getting cold feet.) After talking with my midwives, we decided to do a little petosin just to get my contractions regular. They hardly had to give me any (yay!).

Fast forward to 4:10ish, my midwife came in and I was ready to go! So she broke my water and a few pushes later Ruby was born at 4:21 PM!

And now for what you really want to see.... pictures!

Ruby getting her vitals taken, she was not happy about it!
We are pretty sure she is much louder than Afton was as a newborn.

Holding my sweet little Ruby. I got to hold her right away for a quite while, but it was nice to hold her after she got a little cleaned up :)

Grandma meets Ruby!
She came after Afton's bedtime thanks to a dear friend who watched Afton for us.

Wearing the little turban beanie I made her-
It was a little too tall. Her head isn't really that big :)

Eyes open!

Getting some Daddy snuggles in

This is after her first bath. All cleaned up and dressed in something cute :)

What Would You Do?

Ruby decided to take her time getting here. Instead of coming early or on time (like big sister) she made us wait a while longer. It was starting to drive me a little nuts, so instead of just sitting around and waiting I got out of the house and had some fun.

Afton and I spent a few hours at a little petting zoo. She even got to ride on a pony!

Eating out at Olive Garden with Grandma. Afton LOVES to "cluh-cler"

Playing outside on the slide!
(that I took off of the curb from a random neighbor on trash day)

She looks so big with her back pack on!

We went to Sea World with Grandma.... Afton wasn't too sure about Elmo and Abby this time.

But she warmed up after a few minutes :)

We love grandma!

Halloween

So I thought I was having a Halloween baby this year. Not necesarrily born ON Halloween, but at least around the day. At least her delayed arrival allowed us to take part in some Halloween festivities!

Neighborhood Trunk or Treat

Pumpkin Carving for Family Home Evening

Afton got to decorate her pumpkin with stickers.
We tried to get her to touch the inside of the big pumpkin, but she was not a fan.

Afton in her Halloween garb

Our ward trunk or treat got rained out, so everyone ran into the building and we trunk or treated in the hallways.

Halloween Night!

It is not easy to get a good picture of a toddler, especially after they have eaten their candy :)

Afton liked the idea of getting free candy. She didn't quite understand that she could put her candy away and would get even more at the next house/car :) Next year she will be a pro!
