The Waiting Game

Well here is a long overdue baby update. I am now 40 weeks along in my pregnancy and obviously there is no baby yet. The anticipation of waiting for a baby is awful. There is so much uncertainty and only so much that you can do to prepare yourself. Every night Brad and I sit and there and wonder "Baby, when are you going to come?" Ah well, such is the waiting game.

This is me with a 40 week pregnant belly

Just to warn anyone who has never been pregnant, when you get to your last few weeks, everyone asks with such great concern "Are you feeling ok?" Sometimes I find myself wondering if I look extremely sad or sick, and then I realize they are asking about the pregnancy. It always makes me chuckle a bit. For all those inquiring minds, I am feeling great! I don't feel right about complaining about my minor discomforts because I know many women who got through much more during their pregnancy.

My biggest problem as of late has been to find ways to keep myself busy. Here is what I have come up with so far:

I try to clean a little bit each day so the house isn't a complete mess when the baby comes. Knowing my luck, it will be a mess anyways.

I have been doing quite a bit of reading as well. These last few weeks I have read the Hunger Games series and The Help. VERY different books, but I enjoyed both very much and definitely recommend them.

Nursery Prep
I kind of got a slow start on this. I painted the walls at the beginning of January and am extremely please with them. The rest of the month Brad and I have slowly pieced together the big parts of the nursery: crib, dresser, rocker. And the bassinet was my special project. We got it at a garage sale for $5. Then I bought some fabric at Joann's and re-covered it. It may not be quality sewing - but I am proud of it! When my mom gets here we plan to decorate the walls a little bit :)

Knitting! After I got the bigger projects out of the way, I knitted this sweet little hat for my baby girl. I found the pattern here: http://www.allfreeknitting.com/Baby-Knit-Hats/textured-baby-hats/ml/1
I think I might make some little booties next.

So that's all the updates for now! Hopefully the next one will be full of pictures of our baby girl!
