Anyone else ever wondered why exactly we celebrate Labor Day? Well I did. So I Googled it and found
this informational article on wikipedia. It's pretty much what it sounds like... a recognition of laborers... as in workers and their contribution to society.
SYMBOLICALLY though, Labor Day marks the end of Summer, the start of school, and oddly enough, the beginning of football season! haha.
So what did you do to celebrate on your Labor Day weekend?
Brad had a 4 day weekend (WOOHOOO!!!!!!) So we celebrated by doing lots of laborious tasks that we have been putting off for a while. Like getting our cars inspected/washed/oil changed/etc, cleaning, bug-spraying the house, cleaning out the garage, and doing some much needed yard work. It felt nice crossing all those things off of our to-do list. I feel so accomplished!
We also celebrated by watching lots of college football! We don't have cable, but our internet comes with ESPN 3, so we get a lot of the college football games, and that makes Brad VERY happy. GO COUGARS!
I am only slightly bummed that Summer is over. We had a pretty fabulous one, but I am ready for the heat to fade away a bit....to like the 80's. I am bummed that South Texas doesn't get cold enough for much Fall wear nor does it have much of "seasons." HOWEVER, I am very excited for our event-filled months ahead!
Peace Out Summer!
