Oregon Trip - Part Dos - The Coast!

Welcome to the Oregon Coast... it is Beautiful! However, beware of the water... it is COLD!

The place in the middle is the beach house we stayed in for the weekend... it had an amazing view! (refer to the top picture)

MO'S = yummy clam chowder.

On the Beach at low tide (early in the morning) so we can see the tide pools!

There were sea stars ALL over the place. Big ones. Becky Hayes can tell you their scientific name.

This is the view from the beach house. Beautiful! I was sad to go.

The weekend at the beach house was very fun and relaxing. I got a lot of reading in - I completely finished Emma there - it was nice to do some reading that I liked to do. We also played a lot of games. Card games, board games, you name it. And of course we took longs walks along the beach!

Oregon Trip - Part One

So... about two weeks ago...almost three, Brad and I went to visit the family up in Oregon. It was rainy... of course... and a little chilly - but we still had a great time! I love how beautiful Oregon is... it's so green!

Some Highlights

The first day we got there Brad went off to have some bonding time with his father, while I went with my mother-in-law to see Fiddler on The Roof! Kim's Junior High was putting on the production, and she was the stage manager. I LOVED it! they did a great job, and the kid who played Tevya was really good! He even did the crazy dancing in the Rich Man song! haha.

We visited the beautiful Portland temple. This is actually a picture from when I went to visit Brad last year.... This time there were tulips EVERYWHERE.... I wish I had taken another picture, oh well

We ate a delicious dinner with Brad's friend, Ben, and his wife, Carolyn. We also played Settlers of Catan (Brad's first time) with Ben and Carolyn - it is now Brad's favorite game. Brad's parents ended up buying Brad an early birthday present because he loved the game so much :)

We went to Bonneville Dam... it powers most of the Northwest! We did this tour, and most of the tour talked about how they have spent lots of time and money to make sure they kill as few salmon as possible. So basically only 1 in like a million Salmon die from the dam (note: this is not a real statistic).

We also went to the fish hatchery... there were trout, salmon (i think...), and these big fellas - sturgeons. They were HUGE! I didn't even get the biggest one in the picture... he could probably swallow me whole. Let's just say, I wasn't thrilled about Brad's suggestion of going swimming with them :)

Probably one of the most comical parts of our trip... we accidently stumbled on a marijuana rally in Pioneer Square while exploring the city of Portland with Brad's family. Needless to stay... we quickly moved on to another attraction. But I have to say... Groovy tie-dye dress-shirt-thing!

And then of course, we went to the coast.... but that part of the trip deserves it's own post.
